CLEWS
RELEASE NEW SINGLE & MUSIC VIDEO FOR ‘FEEL’
TOURING WITH BOY & BEAR
Setting hearts on fire with a string of impressive singles released last year, Sydney duo CLEWS return with ‘Feel’ a first taste of new music for 2020.
The perfect track to follow on from ‘New Age‘, which spoke to the experience of growing up as “a modern girl in a modern world”, ‘Feel’ drips with nostalgia, looking back at a small town upbringing upon an intoxicating mélange of their signature candied grunge-pop with a country twinge. ‘Feel’ is a vignette in time, an idea that your universe is hemmed by wherever you make your life.
Speaking of ‘Feel’ Lily said: “I wrote ‘Feel’ a long time ago, I remember that period of my life so clearly and a lot of it is contained in the song. It was just when Ulladulla (the town where we went to high school) got its first escalator as part of a new shopping centre. This came as a sign of the world changing and getting bigger just as I was transitioning out of childhood and getting ready to move away from home and start a grown up life for myself. I allude to it in the ‘Feel’ lyrics a little – that we still didn’t live somewhere big enough to have a fancy hotel with revolving doors, my golden standard for the mark of the big smoke.”
She continues: “At the time it felt like I was writing a break up letter to my childhood, to that town, to set me free into the world. But now when I play it has become a lover letter to all the same things I was so keen to outgrow.”

Lily and Grace returned to their hometown to film the music video, capturing the nostalgia of the track. “We shot the ‘Feel’ video down the coast in the fishing village where we grew up in Mollymook, NSW. This is where I lived when I wrote the song so we wanted to return to that feeling in the video. Maya Luana the director had the idea to capture how much someone can outgrow a place without changing how they feel about it.”
No strangers to touring, the Mollymook sisters have an extensive amount of shows under their belt including touring with the likes of Portugal. The Man, Tash Sultana, Laurel, Albert Hammond Jr. and Ocean Alley. In November 2019 they embarked on their first international tour which saw them perform a string of headline dates through the UK. CLEWS will join Boy & Bear on the road for their extensive national tour through May – June.
