ILLY HAS THE ‘LAST LAUGH’ WITH NEW SINGLE RELEASED TODAY
PERFORMING AT FIRE FIGHT AUSTRALIA
ARIA Award winning Australian Artist Illy has released his first single for 2020, titled ‘Last Laugh’ out now via Sony Music Entertainment Australia.
‘Last Laugh’ is jovially self-described by Illy as an opportunity to “point out people keep doubting me, and I keep making them look stupid”. Illy takes aim at the haters, with lyrics including:
“Yeah jokes on you
Every time they swore that I’d lose, well
Jokes on you
Sat and took it I kept my cool, now
Jokes on you
Don’t get it confused
Mama didn’t raise no fool, she told me get the last laugh”
Instantly recognisable as an Illy song, ‘Last Laugh’ has all of the energy, attitude and quick-spitting rhymes that fans expect from the Melbourne local.
‘Last Laugh’ is the first release from Illy in 2020 following a mammoth 2019, including the release of the now ARIA Platinum single ‘Then What’ in May, his first release in over two years. Shortly after he paired up with New Zealand native Robinson for the anthemic‘Lean On Me’.
Illy farewelled the decade performing to thousands of fans at Falls Festival in Marion Bay, and only a couple of days later he announced a fire relief fundraiser in Melbourne – Make It Rain. With only a matter of days to pull the show together, Illy called on friends including Seth Sentry, Alice Ivy, Nerve, Kuren and Francois, who all joined him on Sunday January 12th at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne – with 100% of proceeds going to fire relief.
Illy will join a stellar line up of artists this weekend for Fire Fight Australia, including the likes of Alice Cooper, Baker Boy, Hilltop Hoods, Peking Duk and Queen.
After five albums and with the creative musical melange of TWO DEGREES, Illy’s roots in hip-hop have now spread to all corners of the musical globe to encompass pop, soul, electro and dance; he stands as one of Australia’s most innovative and creative artists.
